BOOK REVIEW: Clockwork Angel-Cassandra Clare

This is a two part review for the Infernal Devices by Cassandra Clare.

So, I'll begin with Clockwork Angel!

Summary:
When sixteen-year-old Tessa Gray crosses the ocean to find her brother, her destination is England, the time is the reign of Queen Victoria, and something terrifying is waiting for her in London's Downworld, where vampires, warlocks and other supernatural folk stalk the gaslit streets. Only the Shadowhunters, warriors dedicated to ridding the world of demons, keep order amidst the chaos.

Kidnapped by the mysterious Dark Sisters, members of a secret organization called The Pandemonium Club, Tessa soon learns that she herself is a Downworlder with a rare ability: the power to transform, at will, into another person. What's more, the Magister, the shadowy figure who runs the Club, will stop at nothing to claim Tessa's power for his own.

Friendless and hunted, Tessa takes refuge with the Shadowhunters of the London Institute, who swear to find her brother if she will use her power to help them. She soon finds herself fascinated by--and torn between--two best friends: James, whose fragile beauty hides a deadly secret, and blue-eyed Will, whose caustic wit and volatile moods keep everyone in his life at arm's length...everyone, that is, but Tessa. As their search draws them deep into the heart of an arcane plot that threatens to destroy the Shadowhunters, Tessa realizes that she may need to choose between saving her brother and helping her new friends save the world...and that love may be the most dangerous magic of all
.

Guys, I am a major, major fan of Cassie Clare. She is amazing and I totally love her. She’s one of the writers that inspired me to write myself. I love the Mortal Instruments series, obviously, and I’ll probably post a review about it later. So, I thought I’d give this a go. Well, y’all, I seriously had a case of book crush here! I can honestly say I love this series more than Mortal instruments. First of all, the characters.
We have are heroine, Tessa Gray. She’s a good character, and relatable, apart from the fact that she’s a shape shifter! She’s severely loyal to her family and friends, and doesn’t take crap from anyone. We want to help her, and I just wanted to hug her a lot of the time. She’s a person trying to find her place in the world, which is really endearing.  Then there is the sexy, sexy Will. I wanted to kiss him sometimes, and then I wanted to slap him, and repeat. He is the sarcastic, mysterious ‘tall, dark stranger’ that most girls kill for. You could think about him all day, trying to figure him out and he’d still be as mind boggling as before. Here is a quote or two from the man himself.
“Are you implying that shreds of my dignity remain intact?” Will demanded with mock horror. “Clearly I have been doing something wrong. Or not doing something wrong, as the case may be.” He banged on the side of the carriage. “Thomas! We must away at once to the nearest brothel! I seek scandal and low companionship.”
‘Nough said.
We have Jem, a complete sweetie! (I’m totally team Jem, by the way) My God, that boy is going through so much it’s ridiculous and heartbreaking. He is such a gentleman and a lovable character, and you can’t help but feel at ease with Jem.  His word is law. Period.
“We shall throw him out on the streets,” Jem proclaimed. “I promise you he’ll be gone by morning.”
Tessa started and sat upright. “Oh-no, you can’t do that-”
He grinned. “Of course I don’t. But you felt better for a moment there, didn’t you?”
“It was like a beautiful dream,” Tessa said gravely.
I <3 Jem.
And with that we have our three main characters!
We also have a host of other awesome characters, such as Charlotte, fierce, lovable Charlotte who just wants approval and love. Dazed, hopeless and bumbling Henry, whom we love dearly, haughty Jessamine who so desperately wants to get away from shadowhunters and lead a normal life. Camille, who’s fierce need for revenge is startling, Nate who’s so weak and mundane(hehe) but tricks them all. All the characters are amazing, the storyline is great and it easily leads into the next book.
AND Y’ALL, MAGGIE’S IN IT! MAGNUS FA SIZZLE YO! Gotta love Magnus. He’s is just pure epic-ness in a long legged, spikey haired flambuoyantly dressed person.
In conclusion, it was a heartfelt, heart breaking, funny book and I couldn’t wait for the next one.
